Thoughts, staff picks, and lots of fun.

Weekend warrior time

Last fall my husband and I started our patio project. We promised ourselves we would finish it Memorial Day. Mother Nature has different plans. Rain or shine we will be laying pavers.

Coloring by Candlelight

Sunday evening at the end of a long weekend seemed like the perfect time for friends to gather before heading back into our daily routines.

We all met at The Emory in Ferndale, ordered snacks and drinks and settled in for some deep conversation and coloring. Yes, coloring, with coloring books, crayons, pencils and markers. After all the sharing and admiration of our supplies, we all bowed our heads to color. It was so zen. After a few hours and some amazing art we all clinked glasses and made a vow to so this again soon. "This coloring thing is such a great idea!" I heard several times. "Next time lets bring more light."

Charge Black Tourmaline with Reiki

Turn this stone into a powerful guardian protector by adding reiki to it. Hold it in your left hand and beam reiki energy into it with your right hand. This will increase this stone's healing and shielding properties. Then wear it or carry it to keep energy vampires from tapping into your aura or chakras.

Place it near your computer TV and microwave to absorb electromagnetic waves. Place around your rooms to absorb negative moods and thoughts.

Wear it while giving a reiki treatment to help keep you grounded. Gain clarity and confidence by putting this amazing stone on your solar plexus and meditating on a problem.

These are just a few of the ways Black Tourmaline and Reiki together can improve your life.

Come see us at the Candle Wick Shoppe we have gorgeous black tourmaline in stock.Sent from my iPhone

Weekly Oracle Reading: Negativity

Weekly Oracle Reading: Negativity

Ridding one's self of negative energy seems to be the theme of most of my customers magical purchases this week, and now is the perfect time to do it! Or at least that's what the CMO says.

I did a reading for clearing, and got the following three candles that I suggest you get if you are getting rid of some nasty energy this week.

Makin' Tracks by Wicked Witch Mojo: While this is most often used to get rid of nasty neighbors or co-workers, hot-food those troublesome life issues with speed and efficiency.

Reversing by Motor City Hoo Doo: All the drama and junk hanging around your spirit needs to go back to where it came from.

Recover Lost Money by Motor City Hoo Doo: Uncover your money leaks so you can clear them out.

Good luck to everyone kicking that negative energy out of your life! Do a reading for yourself with our online Oracle to find which candles you need.

Weekly Coventry Oracle Reading!

Weekly Coventry Oracle Reading!

This week marks the first of many weekly readings that I will be doing with the Coventry Magic Oracle deck from Coventry Creations. As many of you know, we have a copy in the store, and if you are feeling indecisive or looking for guidance, this deck helps you pick the candles you need, and how to use them for love, prosperity, protection, healing, and clearing.

This week, with a Retrograde in effect, I felt that it would be best to go with a Healing reading.

Card One: Lakshmi World Magic Candle

Lakshmi's healing comes with the relief of stress around financial issues. Call to Lakshmi in her eight manifestations of wealth

Card Two: Road Opener Motor City Hoo Doo Candle

You want your healers and doctors to know exactly how to help you and bring you back to good health.

Card Three: Soul Mate Affirmation Candle

It's time to heal your soul and all the times you've abandoned yourself over being hurt.

Try the online Oracle for free at http://cmo.candlewickshoppe.com/cmo.html

Sharon Knight and the Intimate Show.

Sharon Knight and the Intimate Show.

"I am deeply in love with this beautiful jewel of a planet we live on, and believe this world is full of magic if only we can remember to see it." [x]

That quote right there is from Sharon's bio page on her website, and reading that is when I knew that she was the coolest.

Sharon Knight's music is nothing if not some of the most magical that I've ever heard, and I was psyched to learn that she was coming to Candle Wick to perform.

Some background: Sharon is a Celtic folk singer hailing from San Francisco and has an astonishing voice, as well as some rockin' octave mandolin skills. She has toured nationwide with her collaborator Winter who, by the way, co-founded their gothic folk metal band Pandemonaeon (bold text because how rad is that genre?), but this is going to be her first time performing in Michigan!

Can you feel my excitement?

August 6th, at our new 175 W. Nine Mile location. Join us!

You can listen to Sharon's songs on her website, link above, and you can purchase tickets for her show right here on our website! [click for tickets

Ferndale candle boutique comes out of the basement.

Jacki Smith,  Patty Shaw and Phoenix move their garden level store, the Candle Wick Shoppe formally at 195 W 9 Mile to street level and do it with a nod to the good old days. 175 W 9 Mile is a grand old space that had been sorely abused and neglected. The sisters are returning her to her glory while bringing her into the 21st century.

The owners say the whole point of the Candle Wick Shoppe is about the experience. ā€œWe want our customers to have fun, be surprised and leave our store feeling better than when they came in. We put a penny in a jar every time someone gasps when they open the front door.ā€

At the Candle Wick Shoppe there is something for everyone. Jacki and Patty consider their place a destination gift store you donā€™t have to go out of your way for. Now hereā€™s the twist that keeps their patrons interest peeked and calling this the store of experiences. The tin ceiling, floor to ceiling shelves with a rolling ladder and hardwood floors screamed apothecary to the entire Candle Wick Shoppe in a pre-planning meeting. When the dust finally clears patrons will be welcomed by dark chocolate brown wood floors, teal and rumba orange walls and lots of copper accents. Jacki and Pattyā€™s passion for helping people enrich their lives will be carried through with the products and services found here. Truly and eclectic adventure awaits for all.

This magical store boasts it has a remedy for what ails your soul. If you need a good laugh, youā€™ll find it here. If you need stress relief, youā€™ll get it here. Whether you shimmy up to the Mojo bar or book some time in the reiki room the personal attention provided is sure to turn your frown upside-down.

Thanks to their knowledgeable managers April and Dawn and their wonderfully fun staff, Breanna, Emily and Shannon and the talented Reiki team, David, Margaret, Natalie, Mitzi and Greta; Jacki and Patty feel confident their vision is in good hands.

A grand opening on June 11, 2015 will be complete with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 12 noon. City officials will be there to help Candle Wick open their doors and welcome a new age of apothecary wisdom to the discerning citizens of Ferndale and beyond. To keep the party going Candle Wick Shoppe will have specials and hilarity going all weekend. This move and renovation is a big deal for CWS and Ferndale. Come help them celebrate.

Coventry Magic Oracle: Reading One

Coventry Magic Oracle: Reading One

Did you know we have an online version of the Coventry Magic Oracle? Well, you do now! It contains a card for each Coventry Creations candle and tells you how these candles are going to help you with prosperity, love, healing, protection and clearing. Today I did a clearing reading on the online oracle, for anyone trying to get rid of some negativity, and found that you should use the following:

Prosperity Affirmation: "Time to hire a professional; you're not supposed to do this on your own."

Fiery Wall of Protection: "A good brush fire to clear the clutter can help your plans and ideals grow even faster."

Money Draw Blessed Herbal Candle: "Unlucky no more."

Use these three candles, together, to get rid of the spiritual clutter and bring in some prosperity.

You can find the online Oracle here

Today, I am ready...

I am ready... I am ready to embrace love again. I am ready to spread love

again. The kind that floats in the air and settles into the hearts of the

unsettled. I am ready to stand with my community and help that love to grow

- exponentially.

Today with the news of how many people are in the throws of denying human

rights to others I am taken aback and reminded that I am the change that I

wish to see in the world. Gandhi said it and lived it. I am

reminded that through his life, Gandhi saw the beginning seeds of human

rights in his country, he saw the growth of human rights and he saw the

push back from those who stood in fear of those human rights. He then saw

the implementation of those human rights at the end of his life. He was

the change.

I am no where near the level of divinity and social consciousness

of Gandhi, but I am the center of my own little world and I must be the

change - I must be the love.

We are, right now, in this lifetime, experiencing the tipping point of

great change. Those who hold the power are living in fear of loosing

their privilege, of leveling the playing field and finally having to

compete equally. Mirrors are a difficult thing to have thrust upon you,

as they destroy the fantasy you have build up for so long. We are all

looking in uncomfortable mirrors where we are always the good guy.

Human rights are uncomfortable and messy. When you offer them to

everyone, especially those unlike you, it's difficult to wrap your brain

around their life circumstances. When you do not believe as they do, love

as they do or have lived the victimization they did, how can you relate?

How can you create the empathy needed to offer them these rights without

judgement? It is easy to say "Someone needs to do something" or "That's

just not right", but the true power of being the change you wish to see in

the world is to actually do something, or stand up when hate is louder than

love.

I apologize today to all of those people I did not stand up for.

I apologize for all the hate I allowed to pass by me without comment or

push back. I am practicing to get better. I am stepping into the world

of change one foot at a time and I ask that you remind me when I am

retreating.

Because today, I am ready to embrace love again.
